Diamond Crystal and Wallonium variant

Diamond Crystal and Wallonium variant

Description

The diamond cubic crystal structure is a repeating pattern of 8 atoms that certain materials may adopt as they solidify. However the object has than 8 atoms because some atoms are shared among adjacent crystal units (so they count as a fraction). When composed of two different atom types, the resulting crystal is called "blende" (like Sphalerite Zn and S) See wikipedia description for more details: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diamond_cubic The structure is also used as model for the "Wallonium" artistic artefact with top 5 atoms of the crystal colored in black (see http://wallonium.be ) So you can build you own wallonium from this crystal. Can be printed in two ways: 1) in two halves with some support. Print the same piece twice (because symetric), remove support and then glue together 2) in individual pieces easy to assemble: - spheres with 4 connectors (4 needed - 2 black for Wallonium) - spheres with 2 connectors (6 needed - 1 black for Wallonium) - spheres with 1 connectors (4 needed - 2 black for Wallonium) - 16 connecting tubes (suggested colour: white) Notes: - a base is provided (replaced 1 sphere with 2 connectors and 2 spheres with 1 connector) - all spheres are provided in two parts to assemble so no support are needed Design credits: @7dricCedric
