Direct Drive Filament Spool Holder and Guide

Direct Drive Filament Spool Holder and Guide

Description

06/12/20 Oriented Right Spool Holder to make it flat. Update 10/11/2019 I realized the filament guide I originally designed is garbage if you are printing tall prints. I designed a new one and it is here and pictured. You may need to ream out the hole for the Capricorn Tube, depending on your printer tolerances. Same Print Settings, no supports. Here is a simple assembly for a Filament Spool Holder. This is designed to fit pretty much any spool out there. It is easily adjustable. The filament Guide is designed for 1.75MM Filament. There are 5 parts to be printed in the quantities listed below: 1. Left Spool Holder – Qty - 1 2. Right Spool Holder – Qty – 1 3. Spool Wheel – Qty – 4 4. Spool Bushing – Qty – 4 5. Filament Guide – Qty – 1 You will also need: 1. 608 Bearing – Qty – 4 2. M5 x 20mm – Qty – 4 3. M5 Nyloc – Qty – 4 4. M5 x 10 – Qty – At least 1 for the filament Guide and up to (6) depending on your tolerances and your preferences. Left and Right Supports are a fairly snug fit on a 2020 rail. You need at least one for the filament guide 5. M5 Tee Nut – Qty – Same as M5 x 10. 6. Capricorn Tube – 100-200mm, depends on your preference. Assembly is straight forward. I made the bushings to avoid supports and to allow for the use of M5 hardware. This provides a bearing surface and a spacer which allows for the Left and Right Supports to be printed without the need for supports. Bearings and Bushings are a press fit, again, depending on your machine tolerances. Bushings are 8mm on the support side, then the spacer and 7mm to pres into the bearings. There is approximately 7 hours of print time on my machine, but I only run 50mm/sec. If you download, please “Like”.
