M3D Crane Quad 4mm Bed Adjustment Knob

M3D Crane Quad 4mm Bed Adjustment Knob

Description

Update 01/11/20: Added an additional modified knob set to accommodate a more common 4mm nut size (Measures 6.9mm across nut flats + 0.1mm clearance). ** No need for a locknut as the spring tension coupled with the surface friction of the mating surface of knob is more than adequate for the knob to remain static. Nut is a minor press fit. Recommend using a 4mm screw, washer, and two 4mm nuts to pull nut down to bottom of socket until fully seated. Place 1 nut in socket, thread 4mm screw through nut assembly until enough threads are present to add washer, then second nut. Hold 4mm nut on bottom side with wrench, socket, etc. and rotate printed knob until internal 4mm nut is fully seated. Update 10/19/19: Created an upgraded Y Axis limit switch upgrade bracket so all 4 of these knobs can be used. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3925942 My stock Color M3D Quad Crane Color 3D printer had small, hard to reach adjustment knobs that required an index finger from each hand to adjust due to space Constraints. Searched everywhere for a close fit and had no luck. Five remix versions later I finalized with these dimensions. - Knob Diameter = 33.5 mm - Nut Socket = 4mm Nut (8.6mm @ flats - added 0.1mm for clearance - still minor press fit). - Knob Profile Height = 10 mm - Knurl Profile Height = 3 mm Created this knob to have a much larger diameter without interfering with the underside extrusion, same 10mm profile as the OEM front knobs, narrow knurl to allow adjustment with 1 finger, and a built in spacer for adjustment clearance. Second file is all 4 as a set. NOTE: Quad users - See my comment and last 2 images of right rear knob with limit switch. Hope others will find these useful.
