1993 Case 395 Tractor PTO Vent

1993 Case 395 Tractor PTO Vent

Description

A friend of mine came to me with a challenge. He broke the PTO case vent on his 1993 Case 395 tractor and can't seem to find one. So into Fusion 360 I went to replicate it. I have included two versions for you to choose from. A glue together style like the original part, and a thread together style. I only printed the glue style so the threaded style is untested, though I expect no issues. When using the glue together style apply a little glue in the mating groove as well as around the outside of part 1, then clamp/tape them together until the glue sets. When using the thread together style apply a small bit of RTV to the groove of part 1. You will need a little open cell foam to insert in the inner chamber (center hole) of the cap (part2). This filters any airborne particles that could make their way in, blocking them from entering whatever you may install this on. The portion that threads in the case is 1/2"-18 and will work on 1/4-18NPT with some Teflon tape. Tape the threads a little thicker near the base than near the end and you'll get a good seal. Remember when you tighten it in place that you are torquing the weakest part. We all know that shear strength between layers is the weakest point, so be careful. It just needs to seal. I recommend .1mm layers for best thread fit. If your slicer can do variable layer height, then you can vary to suit. I printed part 1 with .1mm layers, and part 2 with .2mm layers. PETG seemed suitable for my purpose. Print it solid. No support needed and parts are already plated.
