Sidewinder X1 Top Rail Filament Feeder
Description
I made this filament feeder to help overcome potential z-wobble caused by the spool of filament sitting on-top of the printer. To start with I had it without the ball joint, but realised it needed it if the filament was not going to be positioned directly behind the printer. The ball joint enabled the spool to be also positioned to the side and still function well. The 2 bearings, screws and nuts are from the spool holder that came with the printer, so you don't need any extra parts to set this up. You will need to disable the filament sensor by placing a piece of Filament in it to trick it. I don't use it as I'm using OctoPrint and it didn't work anyway. I tried to print it a few different ways, but found this way on a raft the most successful. go for 35-50% infill or print solid if you would prefer. Its pretty small and doesn't take long to print. I have used Monocure 3D Matte Black PLA in my example.
