ADIMLab printer replacement X carriage bottom for mounting BMG or Titan with V6 or Volcano with wheel adjustment
Description
Created a replacement for the bottom half of the stock metal gantry so it would re-use the top metal half, wheels/spacers/bolts/nuts, and belt mounting screws (screw holes). Presents 'standard' NEMA17 mounting holes you can use for anything instead of having to work around the nonstandard stock mounting points. I used a clone trianglelab BMG and Volcano. Print with lots of perimeters and 40%+ infill, this holds all the weight of your extruder stepper so it needs to be strong. To install: disassemble the carriage, keeping the belt mounting screws, then use each wheel bolt and nut, the longer of the two plastic spacers, and wheel to attach. (This printed part has the shorter plastic spacer already built in for each hole.) It's tricky to line up the wheel and plastic spacer so you may want to have another pair of hands. Do not yet fully tighten the wheel bolts, just hand tighten. Install a slim M5 nut (see below) in the pocket behind the third wheel, hold the assembly so the front two wheels are forced into their track flat, and turn the M5 bolt to press the back wheel into its track. Then tighten the wheel bolts as normal to "lock" in the position, there should be no up and down tilting of the carriage possible at this point. Use the stock belt and screws to attach it to this print, adjust tension using the x stepper mount. REQUIRED EXTRA PARTS: There's a pocket behind the third wheel which needs a slim M5 nut placed in it, then use your additional M5 bolt of any length to force the wheel to mate perfectly in its normal track. (I felt that the stock carriage wobbled and had no way to adjust tension like, say, an eccentric spacer, so this was a quick hack to do that) You may be able to use something else like a thin M4 nut and bolt, but regardless it won't mount correctly without the added force pressing the wheel into its track.
