Solar Filter adapter for Celestron 70mm Telescope
Description
In preparation of the upcoming Mercury transit, I thought it'd be a good idea to get a solar filter for my little Celestron 70mm travelscope. Rather than pay a large amount for a premade filter, I figured it would be more cost effective to buy a sheet of filter material and print my own adapter. This adapter is designed for use with a Celestron 70mm aperture telescope. This telescope has an outer diameter of 100mm (3.937"). This adapter holds a 4" by 4" square solar filter sheet, and uses 6mm diameter by 3mm magnets to hold it firmly in place. The magnets should be glued in place, CA glue worked fine for me. If your printer can handle high angle overhangs, set the support angle to 70 degrees to avoid generating support in the corners.
