Masterspool - Spool recycler for Das Filament Spools

Masterspool - Spool recycler for Das Filament Spools

Description

Hey guys, why do we buy filament on spools each time and waste some money and plastic, if we can simply recycle a used spool and just refill it with new filament? This bayonet coupler enables you to reuse your old spool and you will never need to buy filament on spools or print Masterspools! Just print these two parts and cut your used "das Filament" Spool into two halfs. You're ready to go! Here's how to refill: Put the coupler through on side of the spool. The arrows on the coupler should show in the same direction as the spool spins on your printer. Then put the refill and the other half on it. Final step is to lock the bayonet. I designed this bayonet spool coupler especially for das Filament refills: https://www.dasfilament.de/filament-refill/ Important: The width of your spool holder should be 68mm or wider. Compared to other couplers, this design doesn't shrink down the diameter of the spool hole and it also doesn't adds some circumference to the outer diameter of the core. The functionality of your original spool is still the same! WARNING UPDATE: I've contacted "DAS Filament" and they told me that their refills have a slightly smaller inner diameter (around 2mm) than their injection moulded spools. It could happen that the Refill does not really match the spools, maybe only on printed masterspools. I'm still waiting for my order so I can't make any statements on that by now. Just to warn you! Please let me know if you already got a refill-spool and can say If it fits/ doesn't fit. COMMENT TO REIBUEHL (I have no clue why my comment is flagged?!) Hello Reibuehl, thanks for your comment. 2 days ago I updated the levers on the locking mechanism, see the pictures up there - compressed view is annoying. I ran into similar problems when I printed this design first. Option one is to reprint the locker ring which takes around 1,5 hours. Don't use support for this part. Option two: It seems like that you've printed the first version, you could also file down the hooks of the levers until it fits. Maybe it's easier to just reprint the updated locking ring anew.
