Railcore Belt Tensioner
Description
Belt tuner for the Railcore. Slide the lever behind the X or Y motor at the very top of the stepper body as pictured, then use an M3 bolt to secure the lever to the bracket. Gradually tighten until the Y rail is perfectly parallel to the right top extrusion (or the Halo if installed). You can use one tuner after securing either the X or Y motor, or print 2 sets and tune both X and Y simultaneously. Use this tool as you tighten and tune, then tighten the stepper mount bolts to final position and remove the tool. Note that the edge of the bracket should be slid up against the nylock nut securing the right panel (will make sense when you put it on). Be sure to use underextruded supports.* I found PLA at full tightness to be just above Gates's recommended tension. For the heatset insert, you really should use the longer McMaster Carr part number 94180A333 Tapered Heat-Set Inserts, 6.4mm deep to get the full throw of adjustment. You can use less deep ones, but they would have to be installed on the front side. Might work, I did not test, tho'. I used a 20mm bolt as pictured, but you can experiment. It's certainly not perfect, but it works. Please feel free to remix to improve for all! Files included can be used on either side, and a version for the 713maker Halo is also included. Fusion360 file included as well. *Underextruded supports: If using Simplify3D and a 0.4mm nozzle, create support extruder as .35 nozzle, 0.7 extrusion multiplier, horizontal offset 0.5mm, 1 upper vertical separation layers, 2 lower vertical separation layers.
