Gas Range Knob

Gas Range Knob

Description

I own an Ikea gas range. Most of the low to mid-range appliances on the market today are all made by the same company, regardless of "brand." For example,Whirlpool makes Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Sears and Ikea (plus a bunch of others). One of the knobs on my range broke. They are poorly designed, so it was just a matter of time. Also, the low-quality silver finish permanently discolored with ordinary cooking. (I've included a photo.) Since I had to do some work on the stove anyway to replace the defective cooling fan, I thought I would freshen up everything at once and replace all of the knobs. No way! $24 bucks a piece. I've got 5 knobs! And I didn't like the way they performed anyway. So, I designed these. I have included designs for the large and the small knob, in two different "colors." One of them is designed to be printed in a single color. The other is designed so that, if you print it in layers, it will show a contrasting pointer. There's no trick to printing these (especially the 1-color version). I chose PETG because it's a little stronger and higher temperature than PLA. But let's face it: if your knobs are getting up to the melting point of PLA, you've probably got other problems.
