Low Profile Undershelf Spool Storage Mount (Customizable)

Low Profile Undershelf Spool Storage Mount (Customizable)

Description

I wanted a shelf mount for my unused spools. At first I was thinking about arms where I could mount the spools in print orientation and even print of shelf. Well, this would only work properly when the spool is close and above the printer. Also when not used those arms would be dangerous for heads, eyes and other body parts. At least they would be broken off and need replaced now and then. In the end when empty, they just eat space. That is why I created this low profile storage solution. Since I already used 10mm "screws" as spool axle, the main idea was to simply add a nut below the shelf and screw the unused spool in. When empty there is just a small bump at the bottom of the shelf that eats next to no space and is harmless for human health. <b>WARNING</b>: This is not a regular spool holder. The result would be catastrophic. Do not use as a spool holder for printing. Doing so will create a 1kg time bomb waiting to fall onto your printer hitting even with more than 1kg. This is just a simple storage solution for the 10mm spool system: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2504710 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3362785 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3363543 <t1>Requirements:</t1> 1 10mm Nut 3 to 6 3mm wood screws with the desired length. Depending on your spool sizes and shelf plate thickness use more or less wood screws to mount the bracket under your shelf. 3 should be far enough for 1kg spools. When using 2kg spools I would suggest to use more, especially when the shelf itself is not that thick. I used ABS as my ABS printer was the only one available at the time. PLA should be fine. As always I included the FreeCAD source file, so you can simply adjust the measurements to meet your spool system or mounting requirements.
