OpenHAB2 Raspberry Pi Touch Display

OpenHAB2 Raspberry Pi Touch Display

Description

Bringing a touch of "smarthome" into your own home is definitely on the do-to list for a maker. When it comes to smarthome I´m thinking more of a kind of comfort control. So I want to be able to switch a few lamps and get a simple notification like the weather forecast, not much more. In order to realize this, I decided to use OpenHAB2. In this context, I also have the opportunity to deal more closely with a Raspberry Pi which I found very interesting because I have worked almost exclusively with microcontrollers so far. In order not to use the mobile phone every time or even to steer the smart home on the PC, I have searched for a handsome display variant and and found the Raspberry Pi touch display. The display itself should be embedded in a wooden board. Likewise, hooks for keys should be placed on the wooden board too. So I always have a central place for my keys and home control. https://www.ikea.com/de/de/p/aptitlig-schneidebrett-bambus-80233430/ To do so - I needed a few individual components which I would like to share with you here. So there is a wall mount for the "ikea cutting board" in a VESA style to simply slide in the board. There are also some straps to hold the display in place, as well as some WS2812b LED support elements. To simplify printing, I decided to cut the WS2812b into a socket and support. These must be glued together after printing. The WS2812b diffuser is only 0.32mm thick, so print this with two layers of 0.16mm in height. You can find some more infos on my hackaday.io - profile as well a a link to the used software on github. https://hackaday.io/project/168517-openhab2-raspberry-pi-touch-display If you like it, please let me know and leave a thumbs up!
