Grey Cup Trophy - Chalice
Description
Recently, the CFL held 107th Grey Cup game (in 2019). This league championship game awards the winner with the Grey Cup (Coupe Grey) trophy. This model of the Grey Cup Trophy is of the silver Grey Cup chalice, unattached to any of it's bases. I've attempted to model this at 1:1 scale, however I have had issues finding information about the height of the trophy so it may be a fraction smaller than the real deal. However, it is in the same scale as my other Grey Cup model. Printing at 20% of the STL scale is possible on a Prusa Mk2.5. **History of the Grey Cup** The original chalice of the Grey Cup trophy was commissioned in 1909 by the Earl Grey, who was at that point in time the Governor General of Canada. The trophy became the Canadian Dominion Football Championship trophy awarded to the national champions of Canadian Football. First awarded in 1909, the names of the champions are engraved on the trophy's base each time it gets awarded. Unlike the Vince Lombardi trophy, of which a new copy is created for each year's Super Bowl, the same physical Grey Cup trophy is awarded each year and is returned by the reigning championship team to the Canadian Football Hall of Fame. (The above is lovingly paraphrased from Wikipedia) I looked online and could not find a CAD model of the Grey Cup, so I decided this was a niche needing to be filled.
