MPCNC 525C 525F Makita Quick Release & Dust Boot
Description
Update Apr 26, 2020: There was still an alignment issue on the Front 1.1 piece. I've replaced it with a 1.2, and added a set of cam connectors for 1.1 that are shorter, so if you've downloaded and printed 1.1 already, then these should fix the missing clamping force. UPDATE Mar 18, 2020: Added a V2 dust shoe that gives more clearance so less likely to hit clamps and concentrates the vacuum around the drill instead of being open across the whole bottom. Needs supports for printing. UPDATE Mar 14, 2020: Open Clamp: I've added a new set of clamp parts that remove the air-deflection bottom of the clamp. There's a new front and back for C and F burly MPCNC designs. There's very little difference between F and J for this part so it should work for both. Also extended the cam to full length for extra clamping force at the bottom of the router where it probably matters the most and included the pins so you don't have to go searching for the originals. Quick Change Clamp: I wanted to make a router quick release for my Makita that would redirect the air from the router away from the work surface so it wouldn't blow dust everywhere and allow a vacuum attachment to work better. To help avoid overheating, I added channels around the clamp to allow some cooling airflow on the router's metal casing. The hole for the shaft lock button just needs a M5-20mm with 2 nuts tightened against each other, and then you can lock the shaft without removing the router, but I imagine I'll just remove it when I need to change bits. I added a vacuum dust boot for a 1.25" vacuum hose extension (I got from Home Depot for a Ridgid shopvac). The pipe clamps bolt to the XY carriage above and below the left side bearing, replacing the 1.25" 5/16 bolt with a 1.5" 5/16 bolt. The optional thumb screws take a 5mm nut and use a m5-20mm bolt tightened through the nut and threaded into the clamp. It's quite effective at capturing dust when set 1/8" above the material. I've updated the vacuum clamp to a better design, and added a 90 degree cord cover to angle the power cord on the Makita upwards as it's hitting my left Y motor. Added a second cord adapter that requires removing the top of the Makita, but turns the cord closer to the case. Z-Coupling knob is for easy manual adjustment of height. You will need the following from the Bosch quick release, or use the long cam and pins included above.
