Donut Cinewhoop Prop Guards
Description
These prop guards are designed to provide additional safety necessary to fly your [Donut Cinewhoop](https://www.banggood.com/custlink/GmvKnlbmDf) indoors while not obstructing the air coming out of propellers. They do not affect the flight performance as much as regular ducts do so the quad feels like a normal un-ducted 3", just a bit heavy. They also save you about 10 grams of weight compared to the default ones, and still provide about 10% efficiency increase. There are two versions, a shorter one for 1306 motors, seen on the pictures, and a taller one for 1408/1507. The original version of the guards is hollowed on the inside to save weight, but I also added solid versions in case somebody wants to experiment with infill patterns. Those models have "solid" in the file names. Extra parts needed: * 4 × steel M2 20mm screws with button or socket cap heads * 4 × steel M2 nuts Filament choice is very important here. Regular rubbery TPU does not work, the guards come out too soft. Rigid materials like PLA or PETG also do not work - they are too fragile and shatter in harder crashes. What you need is TPU with Shore hardness about 70D-80D. Nylon most likely works too, but I haven't tried it. My personal choice is NinjaTek Armadillo, which is TPU with Shore hardness 75D. It is easy to print with and provides just enough give while being rather rigid. The guard is symmetric, so it fits left and right sides. The spacers (printed with the guard) should be put on the frame standoffs over the guard to prevent it slipping in impacts. The rear spacers of 1306 guards can be replaced with the low profile version of 30 degrees RX antenna tube mounts (see below). The screw holes are printed shut with one-layer "membrane" that allows printing them without supports. Just pierce them through with an M2 screw driver from the nut side before mounting. If you print these, please consider posting a make. I enjoy seeing things I designed out in the wild. Check out other Donut Cinewhoop accessories I made: * [GoPro Session mount for Reelsteady Go](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4008589) * [RX antenna tube mounts](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3784756), the 30 degrees low profile version fits the guards perfectly.
