Thrustmaster TPR Pedals Ball Joint Bracket

Thrustmaster TPR Pedals Ball Joint Bracket

Description

This is a replacement for the small ball joint attachment bracket on the Thrustmaster TPR pedals. It attaches the airbrake pedals to the ball joint on the airbrake sensor. The original part appears to be made from compressed sintered metal, which makes it far weaker than it probably should be. The original bracket also suffers from a design flaw where the thread is surrounded by only a thin amount of metal. When the ball screw is screwed in with the supplied nut for spacing, the screw thread only makes it as deep as this thin section of the thread. My bracket failed when this thin metal surrounding the thread broke. The replacement part has been designed to be beefier than the original, with more material surrounding the entire length of the thread. The replacement is also taller, so it does not require the spacer nut, allowing more of the ball screw thread to enter the actual bracket. The main screw hole for the ball screw is threaded in M5 thread. The length of the thread has been extended to avoid the need for the extra nut that is used to space the ball joint from the pedal. To maintain the detail required to print the M5 thread, I recommend printing the part such that the ball screw thread is perpendicular to the print bed (see attached photos). The two attachment holes are 3.5mm wide to accommodate the M3 screws. These are 20mm apart and unthreaded, like on the original part. Unlike the original part, there is no alignment pin as I have found it to be difficult to print properly and fairly unnecessary. Hopefully this part saves someone else's expensive pedals as well!
