Mount Etna, or Etna is an active volcano on the east coast of Sicily, Italy, in the Metropolitan City of Catania, between the cities of Messina and Catania. It is the highest active volcano in Europe (besides the Caucasus) and the highest peak in Italy south of the Alps with a current height of 3,326 m. The last major eruption, on 24 December 2018, spewed ash into the air, forcing the closure of airspace around Mount Etna.
