Mounting Shoes for the Drawing Robot (horizontal & vertical)
Description
These are **left and right mounts** for @henryarnold's Drawing Robot that support fixing the robot to a **horizontal** (e.g. table, board) or **vertical surface** (e.g. wall). The mounts were designed so that a **DIN A3** sheet of paper (11.7 x 16.5 in) can still fit under the standard size Drawing Robot. One of the main benefits is that the mounting shoes give a tremendous amount of rigidity to the robot. ### Required Hardware - 4x M4*20 Screws (0.7 in) - 4x M4 Washers - 4x M4 Nuts - 4x M5*20 Screws or longer (0.7 in) - 4x M5 Washers -- ### Instructions **Step 1:** slide the left and right X-supports of the assembled Drawing Robot into the left and right mounting shoes. The hexagonal insets on the mounts should face inwards. **Step 2:** use the four M4 screws, M4 washers, and M4 nuts to fix the X-supports to the mounting shoes. The screws pass through the circular holes on the bottom part of the X-supports that line up with the lateral holes of the mounts. The nuts should be pressed into the hexagonal insets beforehand. This step is optional if you fix your robot to a horizontal support (e.g. table, board, etc.), but I still recommend it. **Step 3:** place the Drawing Robot with the mounting shoes installed on your desired mounting surface and check whether everything is square. You can use the mounting holes as drill guides. These holes fit M5 screws and you should use a corresponding drill! I'd also recommend to pre-drill your holes. The length of the M5 screws wholly depends on the thickness of your support, but I'd recommend at least 20mm (0.7 in) for stability. **Step 4:** Use the four M5 screws and four M5 washers to mount your Drawing Bot to whatever support you chose. I mounted mine to a 10mm (0.39 in) thick MDF sheet. -- Please leave a feedback and if you like my creation a tip is also welcome. ;)
