MaraBox
Description
MaraBox - a kids-friendly mobile MP3 box controlled by RFID-enabled figurines, cards or other items based on the TonUINO. This music box can be easily handled by very small children from roughly 18 months onwards. This design combines the pleasing look & feel and robustness of nicely grained wood (bamboo in this case) and the colourful contrast of the plastic casing that hides an eye-catching shine-through Neopixel 24 LED ring. For assembly, threaded sleeves are inserted into the wooden lid, holding together the assembly nicely by virtue of threaded rods and screw-on caps on the bottom part for ease of access. Most of the electronics fit on the detachable bottom plastic inlay, while the Neopixel ring is nestled inside a three-part assembly in front of the speaker. For a detailed general description (in German) of the required parts, software and general design and assembly guides, check out Thorsten's website at https://www.voss.earth/tonuino/ or for a detailed rundown of my build, head to the community forum here: http://discourse.voss.earth/t/vorstellung-marabox-bambus-3d-druck-neopixel-ring/4608 Notes for makers: - This version made it into my final assembly, but still requires a little post-processing and hot-glue workarounds as some of the fixing points for the electronic parts were not designed with enough wiggle room, so you may need to make some changes for your build if you want everything to fit nicely right from the start - the apertures are generally well placed in this version and did not need major reworking post-print, but may need adapting if you design your boards differently from me or decide on other components (battery shield, USB plug...)
