Striped Chainmail Necktie
Description
# What is it? As promised, I have a new version of the Trimesh Necktie. The old version was TOO flexible and would collapse on itself, so this version has occasional links melded together to give it more horizontal support, while still being nice and flexible like a more traditional tie! I also created a new tie coupler and knot system, where it's easy to swap out ties and different knot designs using a clipping geometry, or with M3 bolts if that's easier. Definitely try designing your own crazy knots using the sample ones here as a base! # How to print / assemble? To print a full tie, you will need to print the upper and lower sections, both the primary and secondary colors. I used my dual extrusion printer to print the upper and lower sections, then joined them together by cutting the four connecting links at their weak point with a pair of flush-cutters, like the last tie. If you're lucky enough to have a huge printer, you can print the tie as one big unit. If you'd like, this is the elastic band thing that makes it super easy to put on: [Luchuan Adjustable Black Bow Tie Straps for Adults](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076PTX9X5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) on Amazon for $9.99 # What files are there? I've included a bunch of files for convenience. The full tie STLs couldn't be included, even after compression, but I was able to give the STL for each of the four tie parts in a zip file. Putting all of these on the print bed should be a complete tie. You will need to print the "UPPER" and "LOWER" sections together so they mesh correctly: 1. CHAINMAIL TIE, UPPER TIE MODEL, PRIMARY ONLY 2. CHAINMAIL TIE, UPPER TIE MODEL, SECONDARY ONLY 3. CHAINMAIL TIE, LOWER TIE MODEL, PRIMARY ONLY 4. CHAINMAIL TIE, LOWER TIE MODEL, SECONDARY ONLY After these, you will need a coupler (CHAINMAIL TIE, COUPLER) for the flexible bowtie part, and a knot. I've included two different knot files for you to choose from: 1. CHAINMAIL TIE, PLAIN KNOT 2. CHAINMAIL TIE, DECO KNOT STLs which contains primary and secondary files to match your striped tie colors Other than the STLs, there are tons of STEP files included too if you want to tinker with the models. The big one to draw attention to is CHAINMAIL TIE, FULL TIE MODEL.STEP which is as the name implies, the whole tie (except coupler and knot). ## That's it, happy printing!
