TILS System (Textured Interlocking Liner Socket System)

TILS System (Textured Interlocking Liner Socket System)

Description

The project is in early stages of a work in progress project. My explanation is not designed to be comprehensive yet but instead to establish a project start date and creative commons license for the concept. I have given the project the name TILS system (Texture Interlocking Liner Socket System) but the novel concept is not limited to this project and attribution is expected for all projects that are fall within the scope of the concept. I am using digital design to make a custom prosthetic liner with a textured pattern on the outer surface. This pattern interlocks with a reciprocal pattern on the inner surface prosthetic socket. What is novel about this concept is the use of digital design process to make a silicone (or gel) prosthetic liner (human interface) and then digitally designing a prosthetic socket with a reciprocal pattern on the inner surface to make custom (bespoke) liner and socket for a prosthesis. This concept is not tied to one type of fabrication method, however it has been successfully been implemented utilizing 3D printing of the molds for a silicone liner and 3D printing of the reciprocal socket. Mesh files and images have been added to this publication, as references of a liner and socket that were custom made of a particular person. These designs are not to be reproduced and the mesh files are too low resolution to be used for anything other than reference.
