Area of a Circle - Tactile Geometric Proof
Description
A tactile geometric proof for the area of a circle. There are two different version of this. One has a braille "r" on it as well as a line showing the radius. Print 12 copies of this circle segment, sitting vertically for the best Braille. The second version has two pieces, one with the joint and one with the joint cut out. Both have a raised radius. These pieces join together. You can arrange them in a circle and an approximate parallelogram to show that the area of a circle is pi*r*r. This is a common proof in early high school mathematics. This tactile version allows blind or low vision students to access the concept themselves.
