Jaycar R/C Truggy GT4209 battery cover with GoPro mount

Jaycar R/C Truggy GT4209 battery cover with GoPro mount

Description

I saw a video online of a guy driving an RC car with a camera rigged up for a FPV experience back to a TV or projector, this is hopefully the first step in creating my own. I wanted to play around and film some footage on the RC car I picked up from Jaycar. I was not having much luck with double sided tape to the top of the plastic cover for the car and did not want to damaged the cover. I decided to design a replacement battery cover and drive the car without the cover when filming. The mount is short enough that it easily fits underneath the cover when the GoPro is not mounted. I took measurements from the original battery cover shown to the right in the photo. It is not of perfect dimensions, and of far less complexity than the original, but it is functional and works for my needs. I have only been using Fusion 360 for about 3 weeks, don't give me a hard time. I have included the Fusion 360 file for the GoPro Mount so you can use it in your own F360 projects. I have also included the STL for the GoPro mount. For those of you not interested in learning F360, I have also successfully imported the stl into my slicer and just moved it onto another object before printing. The M5 nut is a tight fit, I needed to screw the nut onto the bolt and apply quite a lot of force to insert it, I broke one mount during the prototyping phase. To avoid flexing the mount too far I recommend inserting the GoPro and then leaning the mount on the edge of a table. If printing the GoPro mount I recommend doing it vertically with no supports. It is a quick print and probably worth doing to see if the M5 nut fits or if you need to modify your print settings.
