Bed Clip Tool
Description
I use glass print beds on all my FDM printers. Both round and square. I use 20MM binder clips to hold the glass in place. Binder clips are available at office supply stores. 20MM is the width of the clip. I have tried both larger and smaller clips but the 20MM are like Goldilocks for me. Finding and using something that is "just right". I have PN (neuropathy) and two fingers (thumb and index) are just not strong enough to open the clips to the extent (about 6MM) to clip the glass and the metal bed. Many people have problems opening binder clips larger than just a few sheets of paper. I created this 3D printed tong (tool) and now I can use the strength of all my fingers and hand grip to fully open the binder clip. (Why did I struggle so long?) The design doesn't create a mechanical advantage. Just lets my full hand do the work. Tongs are very simple and easy to make. Only one part. The thin section at the rear permits easy flexing and almost no chance of breaking in normal use (squeezing) Plenty of strength. This tool is not flimsy.
