Mae Jemison Lithophane

Mae Jemison Lithophane

Description

Dr. Mae Jemison was the first black woman to go to space during a 1992 mission. She conducted experiments as a Science Mission Specialist, and she began her comms on each shift by saying, "Hailing frequencies open" in a nod to Lt. Uhura of the USS Enterprise. This is one of a series of lithophanes I made during Black History Month, 2020, honoring women. Learn more about my process here: https://www.robmorrill.com/lithophanes https://youtu.be/7lAwUC3tli0
