dishwasher friction sleeve

dishwasher friction sleeve

Description

Replacement part for Kenmore dishwasher. The rubber friction sleeve is part of the door hinge that keeps the door from falling down when opened. We found one of the sleeves on the floor with one end torn and the door seemed heavier than before. When I pulled the dishwasher out from under the counter, I discovered that the sleeves were missing on _both_ sides. The design in OpenSCAD took about 20 minutes and the print time was about 30 minutes for two parts. Installation took less than 15 minutes, cost about $0.20 each. OpenSCAD source is included. The original parts are a made from a fairly hard rubber so you need a flexible, hard-wearing filament such as TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane). TPU is tough and durable but still flexible. It is also resistant to oil, grease and abrasion. Update 24/07/20 - After a period of use the TPU sleeves started to squeak so I re-printed them with a TPE filament that is slightly softer but does not have a shiny surface on the finished part. This has cured the squeak. Our dishwasher is a Kenmore but this part fits other dishwasher brands such as Whirlpool, Maytag, Amana, Estate, Magic Chef, Inglis, Crosley, Roper Manufacturers part # WP8268961
