Apple Macintosh 800K Floppy Drive - Eject Gear
Description
### What is it? This is the STL and source for the Macintosh floppy drive eject gear replacement. You might need this if your drive no longer ejects — the original gears are made out of a special material which deteriorates and crumbles. ### October 20, 2021 UPDATE I have added a "V2" design to the design files (STL, STEP, SLDPRT) which is 1:1 with the original gear. This design used microscopy imaging to reproduce the design in Solidworks. Also available on [Shapeways](https://www.shapeways.com/product/83RHF6KS2/premium-eject-floppy-drive-gear-x20). ### It's free to download, but you can buy prints too! If you would prefer to buy printed parts, I recommend checking out [my Shapeways listing](https://www.shapeways.com/product/27DNUVPJA/replacement-floppy-drive-gear-for-macintosh-comput). You can get as many as 12 gears for $8.00. The price on Shapeways is the cost of manufacturing plus $0.50 markup... so you can basically consider it a fifty-cent tip everytime you buy a variant from Shapeways! If you appreciate this project please show your support by sharing my work and leaving feedback to further improve the design. ### Warning While I have done a lot of testing with my own high resolution 3D printer, please consider the design "beta" until I can receive feedback. In my testing the gear easily slips onto the shaft and mates with the drive gear neatly. *FDM*: Print tests were performed by the 68MKLA user [Torbar](https://68kmla.org/forums/index.php?app=forums&module=forums&controller=topic&id=59867&tab=comments#comment-641697). Based on the results, printing at 0.20mm resolution is not sufficient for a working gear. I was able to produce working prototypes on my Anycubic Photon at 0.10mm resolution. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOzlhi8_DR0
