Ultrasabers Obsidian Lite Chassis with Mute Switch
Description
UPDATE: I have added an extra part of the chassis that now works in the Fallen! Cheers! The total length of this chassis is about 118mm minus the speaker handle. You can ignore that if you'd like, it's not necessary and doesn't exactly attach onto the chassis as nicely. But its there if you want so the chassis is easier to pull out. Simply glue it on the bottom. The battery, middle and board section go together in that order. NOTE: Make sure to measure to see if your lightsaber has clearance for the chassis (measure from the bottom of the button to the top of the threads for the pommel insert on the hilt). It was an EXTREMELY tight fit for my ultrasabers fallen. If you would like it to fit in a fallen, tell me in a comment and I will custom make it sort of wrap around the fallen (the fallen's button hits against the chassis top) You will need to do some rewiring and will need to remove the old speaker holder. To do so, cut the wires (don't cut while the batteries are connected) connected to the speaker, remove the bottom holder from the battery case, then grab something and poke at the hole behind the speaker and it should pop out. It is NOT screwed in or anything, those screws you see are simply to align and fit with the battery case. The battery case will need to be reused. The speaker holder, you can do whatever you want. As for the mute switch, use any mini slide switch. I use this one: http://www.vimex.com/switches/pages/SWX-SLD-TKS-SS12D00-index.htm Connect (well, solder) the switch from any far end pin to one of the wires for the speaker, then, connect the middle pin to the board. The second wire simply goes towards the board. I have provided an Ultrasabers Obsidian Lite soundboard schematic if you need further help with wiring and/or accidentally pull something out. Advantages of chassis: - More solid and protected - No shaking around and less of the speaker screaming OBSIDIAAAN when you drop the saber (can't prevent that, it just does it for some reason lol) - Less force required to initiate clash sound from saber - More consistent swing sounds - Looks badass Cons: - Can be a pain to install ESPECIALLY... - a pain to install in low clearance hilts like the fallen Here's a video demonstrating it on reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/lightsabers/comments/fa2aaw/designed_and_3d_printed_a_chassis_with_a_mute/ Printing instructions: Mostly support-free, the battery+speaker MAY need supports on the bottom, in the case of my PETG it needed supports. I don't think PLA needs it but haven't tested, shouldn't risk it. Other than that, hope you find use in this chassis, enjoy!
