If you want to participate in some robot self driving car competition event, you could choose to use my build guide for the 12428b RC Car : It is very easy to convert the car to a self driving car : you need to replace the ESC ( original one is fixed with double sided adhesives) and the Servo, which is fixed with a few screws. You will find in this thing all the details on how to update the RC car to a self driving car. Software is not supplied, as it is all compatible with the donkeycar python project, for which you can find plenty of documentaiotn and tutorials.
