iLean front wheel drive trike: Fred Bike Project
Description
Hi, IMPORTANT THAT YOU READ THIS! This bike design is included in a book I've written, Cycle Zoo, Bikes for the 21st century. As a small gesture of support, please buy the book! Links to book through http://modularbikes.com.au/ . Thanks! Update April 28, 2021. I have removed obsolete files, then reloaded them with prefix xobsolete. New replacement files have also been uploaded. The new file names begin with V2. Changes are as follows: frame separator parts are now the same top and bottom, and the top frame has been elongated. Frame spacers are secured by self-tapping screws instead of m5 screws and m5 tee nuts. These changes simplify and strengthen the frame. These files make a start on sharing plans for my leaning trike which has recently completed a 4 day, 1200k audax ride, see my blog at http://modularbikes.blogspot.com/2020/03/murray-1200-pics-day1.html . This meant daily km totals of approx 350, 350, 250, 250 km. Yes, a lot. The 1st 5 files are for the frame spacers which allow the trike to be split in two to transport it so in a car or on a train. More to follow, I will try to do 1 batch of files for 5 or 6 weeks or so till its all done. To whet your appetite you can make a tiny little one, read the blurb carefully before jumping in, there are lots of files on this thing and not all of them apply, https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3359741 UPDATE Mar 19, 2020. I have added bottom bracket housings. All files beginning with BB UPDATE Mar 28, 2020. Have added frame and frame assembly drawings beginning with FRAME. The whole frame is simpler and heavier than the 2 part frame shown in other drawings. UPDATE APRIL 2, 2020. Have added dwg that enables a tailbox to be routed from 4mm birch ply. For some assembly process details, see http://modularbikes.blogspot.com/2019/06/a-few-days-in-spacetank.html UPDATE APRIL 21, 2020. Have added dwg "ffd" to show laser cut front fork dropouts and forks.pdf describing 3 ways of making or sourcing front fork. UPDATE JUNE 25, 2020. Added (FST.pdf) steerer made from stunt scooter parts and adjustable stem Regards Steve Nurse
