Thumb Screw Adapter (M3 Socket/Allen Head Bolts)
Description
The side panel on my Peopoly Moai uses M3-16 cap head screws which meant I needed to pull out an allen wrench every time I needed to remove a panel. Decided to make thumb screw adapters for the M3-20 socket/allen-head bolts and the end result is that the exposed thread length is about still about 16mm because the base is about 4mm. I specifically made them very snug, requiring the bolt initially be threaded in until the head reaches the thumb screw body, and then gets pressed in so the knurling on the bolts bites into the thumb screw body and doesn't unthread itself during use. The picture with the underside of a folding table just shows how I pressed in the bolt using the hole and allen wrench. A little hard on the palm. I made these using my Peopoly Moai with Siraya Tech 'FAST' grey resin which has some pliability to it. I imagine brittle resins would just shatter during pressing. If I was to do this again, I'd probably put a little bevel on the outward edge, but I can always just use a file.
