Bauhaus Chess Set Replica by Josef Hartwig 1923
Description
This is an abstract of a digital manufacturing lesson I made for 12 -13 year olds (Junior High School) who are approaching 3d printing. It is possible to download the pdf lesson named chesssetlesson.pdf within which it is possible to view the dimensions of the pieces of the chessboard. (visit THING FILES) The lesson requires that the children draw all the pieces with Sketchup software, convert them to .stl and then print them in 3d. Subsequently, the children will be able to design a container for the chess set. Each piece is a replica of the Bauhaus Chess Set by Josef Hartwig designed in 1923, with characteristically reduced forms featuring shapes such as cubes, cylinders and balls, the design of each piece indicates the type of its manoeuvre. HAVE FUN!
