Zortrax M200 Carbon Fiber Platform
Description
Note: I designed this for my M200 V4. I did meticulous measurements on the original machine and the fit/geometry came out perfect. I feel great about this mod so I hereby provide the DXF file for free download. It *may or may not* be compatible with your version of M200. COREQUISITE: Z-Sense Bed Height Control, available from "z-temp.co". Note 2: The metal clips are outside the build volume and outside the travel range of the print head, so they are completely safe. Make sure that whatever size clips you use do not interfere with movement. The stock Zortrax V2 platform SUCKS ASS due to the following reasons: - It warps heavily, even with proper regular maintenance and underside cleaning - The electrical contact mechanism is very unreliable. The contacts don't work with steel nozzles, for example. - If you want to scrape off a print, you basically have to take out the entire platform which is awkward and heavy and scalding hot and this puts cycles on the connectors. - You get tiny plastic particles all over yourself, the floor, and your house. And you easily hurt yourself with the razor sharp spatula. Benefits of using the CFRP Platform: - Very lightweight and easy to swap/remove - Does not warp and you never ever need to recalibrate the platform - Use your favorite surface treatment (glue stick works for ALL materials so no need for PEI stickers) - Prints are extremely easy to remove once the platform cools down - Does not produce particle pollution How to Make & Install: - Download the DXF file. - Send the file to a service bureau. Specify 3.00mm CFRP board. Surface finish does not matter because you will use glue stick or PEI sticker on the surface anyway. This step has to be done with a factory. I mean it is possible to route CFRP yourself with a CNC but it's gonna be very, very nasty. Alternatively you could use aluminum or glass but then you are missing the whole point. I use a Chinese service and it cost me about $30 USD for the 2 sheets I made. Your cost may vary. - Take your Z-Sense and remove the small plastic part/tab directly above the tactile switch. - Remove the Z-Sense leveling screw, or move it completely out of the way. - Done! From now on, just use the 3 platform screws to level or tune the height of the platform if you need to. Troubleshooting: If certain materials (such as Z-HIPS) doesn't wanna stick to the glue stick, simply raise the platform temperature to 100℃ and it will stick strongly again. Feel free to ask me any questions in the comment section.
