Fulcrum - The Hinging Creality Hot End Cover with Direct Drive

Fulcrum - The Hinging Creality Hot End Cover with Direct Drive

Description

**Presenting Fulcrum - The The Hinging Creality Hot End Cover with Direct Drive** *Updated 5/9/20* *Improved rigidity, added tabs on back to hold part more securely on bottom corners, x carriage wheels must now be removed to install, rather than clipping in. Makes it take longer to install, but prevents motor backlash.* *Compatible with Ender 3 (Pro), CR-10 family, etc.* This is the improved, optimized, and final (but subject to change) iteration of my original [direct drive mount/fan cover combo](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4213886). This is intended to make the hot end more accessible, and make upgrading a breeze, as well as helping airflow. Both fans can be installed with no screws, and the main assembly can be secured with the two stock screws, utilizing a snap fit onto the roller spacers behind the x gantry. The fan duct attaches using two M3x10 screws, which can be taken from the stock fan cover. The hinges can use a piece of filament as an axle, bending the ends to keep it in place if needed. The hooks on the side of the main and hotend fan pieces are for a rubber band, to add some tension to keep the cover shut during printing. This version was optimized to be more rigid, aesthetically pleasing, flexible, and easier to print than its predecessor. Hope you like it! Step file is included, feel free to improve my design. *If any changes are needed, such as inaccurate dimensions, etc, please let me know and I will fix it!* **Be sure to change your build volume to 190 mm on the x axis and 200 on the z axis to avoid ramming into the frame. This does unfortunately decrease the effective build volume.** **Print the main piece front facing down with supports everywhere** **Print the fan pieces upright with supports everywhere.** **Print the fan duct with no support if you have decent cooling - If not, print with supports touching build plate, but NOT EVERYWHERE. Supports inside the duct will NOT come out.**
