BlackBerry Key2 to Document Camera

BlackBerry Key2 to Document Camera

Description

With classes moving to "online" due to the COVID-19 issues, a professor asked me for a design to hold a cell phone so it can be a document camera for telecon (Zoom) meetings. This is sized for that professor's phone with case, a BlackBerry Key2 in a slim Tudia Merge case. My guess is that this is too specific for mass use, but it's being uploaded so others can see a cheap useable solution that may give other designers ideas. The professor was using this octopus "helping hands" to hold the phone: https://www.amazon.com/Third-Soldering-Workshop-Non-Slip-Aluminum/dp/B079CHJQKH/ Or https://www.amazon.com/Crazepony-Soldering-Resistant-Swiveling-Brushless/dp/B06Y4393VM/ The phone is counterweighted with a cup of rocks from outside the professor's home. There are two versions, one that uses tabs for the alligator clips (…_Holder2), the other has studs that replace the clips (…_Holder3), i.e. Remove the alligator clips, and insert the studs. We found that three arms are needed to prevent sagging, but we were using a relatively new helping hands and we could see that if it was more used the joints may be looser than desired.
