Open Source Emergancy Ventilator
Description
This is a 3d printed Emergency Ventilator offered under the Good Samaritan Statute for the duration of the Covid 19 emergency. It has NOT been evaluated by trained medical professionals at this time. Disclaimer - Proper Ventilators have multiple sensors, safety features and have been evaluated by medical professionals. THIS DEVICE HAS NONE OF THOSE THINGS!!!! - It should only be used in the event of a major emergency when there IS no other option. it should only be used under supervision, and by trained medical personnel who can evaluate the effectiveness of this device. To be clear, if a real Ventilator is available you should always utilize that, and improper use of this device may in fact be fatal. That being said, this should be able to compress an emergency ventilator bag with a selectable degree of force depending on which holes you use. Assembly instructions and Bill of materials are forthcoming. For now if you print one you will need a NEMA 17 stepper, a motor controller and power supply of some sort, preferably with rheostat, lots of varying lengths of M5 bolts and nuts, some m5 washers, one M8 bolt, nut, several m8 washers, and some M3 bolts and at least one standard m3 nut for the stepper. The STEP files are also available, please feel free to modify as needed for your application. My goal with this project is to ensure that at least some sort of ventilator may be available for remote areas that may have a 3d printer.
