Activated Charcoal Mask - Integrated Remix

Activated Charcoal Mask - Integrated Remix

Description

Update 6/10/20: I've actually made some improvements to the design that optimize materials and improves the seal. Check it out here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4441283 Hi Everyone! I created a 3-filter replacement for my 3M respirator filters (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4247406), and someone asked if I could adapt it into the Nanohack COVID-19 mask, so I remixed the version from Lafactoria3D (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4225667). I have printed and tested it. If you've already printed the receptacle, clamp, and grate from my other filter project, no need to recreate them here- they are exactly the same. Just print the mask part and you should be good to go! Filter assembly: To assemble each filter cartridge, follow the pictures above and place a cotton pad at the bottom of a receptacle, then put just a little bit of activated charcoal powder, then another cotton pad, then the grate with the little nub pointing upward, and then thread the clamp on top. Additional note: for better sealing on the threads, I highly recommend either using teflon tape, caulk, or hot glue to help seal the threaded surfaces. General critique on the basic mask: It's a good design, and needs to be tailored a bit to each person's face to get an adequate seal, which is beyond what I can design with hard plastic. However, this should be solvable by either gooping up some silicone caulk or some cooled down hot glue (just something that is a little bit squishy). Good Luck and Stay Safe! #FaceCoveringChallenge *Update 4/27/20 I've set up a program where I print these up for my neighborhood and give them away for free or donations for anyone that needs a mask. I highly encourage you all to do the same!
