Respirator COVID19 Concept

Description

Open source design concept for low cost mechanical respirator based on manual resuscitator or "self-inflating bag", which is a hand-held device (130 mm diameter) commonly used to provide positive pressure ventilation to patients who are not breathing adequately (def. Wikipedia). Three 608 bearings are needed. It is based on the use of a simple "car window" motor coupled in the eccentric gear (pictures). Alternative shapes and eccentricity of the disc may result in different air pressure and release rates. Design available at https://www.tinkercad.com/things/d3R13CpPf5m and three separate printable parts (base, arm and gear). A copy off the gear with additional holes to adjust the excursion has been added (March, 28th 2020). While the simple gear has 50mm excursion, the adjustable one can be set for 30, 40 or 50 mm excursion. It is a concept to stimulate further development. it may need further mechanical development and tests to work properly. ADDITIONS: Adjustable Gear_R2_Respirator_COVID19_Concept.stl added: Added 3 sets of holes in order to adjust the excursion of the eccentric disc (original 50mm, 40 and 30mm). Alternative Gear_R3_Respirator_COVID19_Concept.stl added: Alternative shape adapted from the OxyGEN project https://github.com/ProtofyTeam/OxyGEN to replace the eccentric disc. Gear_R3_Respirator_COVID19_Concept.stl added: print all gear pieces and the "disc" with alternative shape.
