RespyComb - Modular Filter platform
Description
NOTE NOTE NOTE: If using these in public, for COVID protection, please filter the output. I have added a piece of filter media trimmed to fit inside the mask and totally cover the output valve. This will catch any droplets and prevent spread like any casual non-medical mask. Do your part. UPDATE: Added a cover for 3M P100 filters. this allows for attachment of a prefilter to the soft cookie-style filters used by welders, and protects them from damage, wear, and soil while navigating the capital wasteland. UPDATE: Added a 25mm webbing clip that replaces the stock 3M adjustment buckle. Webbing was sourced from an LED headlamp. UPDATE: Added a layer that can be used to install a microphone. I used a portable PA I got off of Amazon with a headset boom mic. Remove the headset arch and install the mic inside the bottom layer, with the mic and pop filter inside. route the flexible boom arm out through the hole, seal the hole with putty, cement, hot glue, whatever. Hold remaining boom arm with the clip. Here is a possible solution for sourcing filters and facemasks. -Multilayer modular design, add or remove as many layers of filter media as you need to stay safe -heavy-duty positive crush seal, uses common hardware to mechanically seal each layer around the edge -choose whichever filter medium you can get or trust. I'm using 2 layers of HEPA vacuum bags, and HEPA vac pre-filter, but you can use high thread count cotton, microfiber, shop towels, t-shirts, etc. cut to 2.5" x 5". -retrofits the commonly available 3M half mask respirator platform, which you may already have or can find. It's a scary world right now. Big things are happening and most of us are worried about staying safe. Be strong, and be safe out there, folks. I use a 3M half mask when doing yardwork because I have pretty bad allergies. I've been trying to keep an eye out for good deals on filters, but had trouble finding em most times. I realized that with my 3D printer experience I could probably print adapters to common filters, plugs so i could use a single filter, etc. It was all back burner until now, where you can't find filters AT ALL. So i dusted off the calipers, ordered a pack of vacuum cleaner bags and filters from Amazon, and designed this bad boy. Considering the official guidelines right now are "a folded T-shirt" I think this will work out alright for what I need it for. Use at your own risk, etc. I wanted something refillable, that works with cheap material, that I can easily exchange or refit. this attaches thru a 3M compatible twist-lock seal, allows you to use whatever filter media you want, and is extendable, from 1 layer on up. Layers are compressed using M3 screws and nylocks, and the nylocks are retained in the base layer. I
