Filament spool weight for roller type spool holders
Description
This is a filament spool hub weight system to stop spools jumping off track / roller spool holders when they are nearly empty. This is a particular problem with 2.85mm filament feeding upwards but this solution will also help more generally. Please see my Amazon affiliate links for the items needed to complete this project. I provide my designs for free so any income from these links will help contribute to the design costs. Thank you. The other non 3D printed parts needed are: M8 x 150mm coach / carriage bolt (100 / 120 for smaller spools) M8 toothed locking washer M8 wing butterfly nut M8 40mm diameter washers (start with 32 of these) https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B085Y96W57/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=rjelbertwebsh-21&camp=1634&creative=6738&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B085Y96W57&linkId=1c08e76773fead9ce49d0106f0573778 All these parts can be purchased on Amazon or in a good hardware store. This weight system should fit with many different hub diameters and spool widths. I have suggested a 150mm bolt to fit even the larger spools in which case you can use the bolt spacer (see pic) for smaller width spools. If you only use 1KG spools then a 120mm bolt should be fine. If you use 750g spools then a 100mm bolt might work. The washers are the weights so you will need to buy enough to fill up the gap inside your spool hub. You might be able to use other metal objects for weight like socket set sockets. I have included the OpenSCAD files so you can adapt the sizes / diameters as you need. If you like this then please like it and please post a make as it makes sharing our designs much more worth while.
