VentuPAP Positive Pressure Ventilation CPAP/BiPAP driver

VentuPAP Positive Pressure Ventilation CPAP/BiPAP driver

Description

Non-Invasive Positive-Pressure Ventilation can be realized using a simple half-mask and a source of safe, clean air with a pressure of about 10-15 cmH2O at the required flow for inhalation. This could potentially be used for treating ARDS, as for example from Covid-19. This compressed-air injector venturi unit will provide a consistent pressure of 10-20 cmH2O when driven with 1.5-2 bar pressure. Combined by a carbon-filter column to ensure clean air from the compressor, a delivery of safe pressurized air is possible. The output end is designed to fit a 20mm adaptor onto a particle filter on a suitable mask. It is printable in one piece without support. The nozzle itself should be drilled with an 0.8mm drill after printing for consistent performance. Combining the driver with a half-mask with modified exhaust valves to create the positive pressure, the CPAP NIV ventilation is achieved. By combining the concept with a solenoid valve for turning on and off the compressed air, a BiPAP functionality can be achieved. With a differential pressure sensor, the PEEP pressure can be set to eg. 15 cmH2O (air off) and then re-enable airflow when pressure drops to 10 cmH2O. The venturi effect of the driver means that the compressed air consumption is relatively low. A standard 2 HP compressor only runs at about 15-20% duty cycle when continuously operating one device. Hose inner diameter is 5mm. I can post different size hose connectors as needed.
