I think that a good approch to rc flight can be a mix of 3d parts and other materials: this is an example. The fuselage is balsa+3d printed parts, the wings is poly cut with 3d printed ribs as guide and 3d printed parts. For made this glider you must many know a wide of techniques as build with balsa, cut poly with hot wire and 3d printing besides knowing how to build an rc plane :-) You can also use only some parts: the fuselage, the wing or the motor mount system.
