Sputnik Beeper Model remixed after Fran Blanche

Sputnik Beeper Model remixed after Fran Blanche

Description

Update: Have added a soundfile, sounds similar to the little nasty Nightingale bird before my window. Have extended the thing to become a collection of documents taken/saved from the internet showing the Sputnik1 transmitter in a bigger context. Some of you might never heard or listen about the thing that started a new chapter in history. The very first thing the menkind put in earth orbit. Made in the USSR. No lame duck made by the USA propaganda. Evey one on earth could see it with the naked eyes. This is my take on making a remixed Sputnik Beeper Model. It is in early stage. It will stay WIP for a while. Initially the Sputnik model with the built in beeper was made 1957. It was made from a half earth gobe base part with the tiny sputnik ball on top stored by the British Museum of Science. See the first picture. Many people will remember the wonder of hearing the regular 'beeps' of the radio signal transmitted from Sputnik as it orbited Earth, sounding rather plaintive and lonely. -spacereviews "First race to space part1" exctracted article in the download files section -Arts and culture https://artsandculture.google.com/exhibit/cosmonauts-science-museum/KwLibpPvWOZ3JQ?hl=en -Hackaday https://hackaday.com/2017/04/25/model-sputnik-finds-its-voice-after-decades-of-silence/ -Dutch radio amateur Sputnik transmitter (rebuild) https://www.pi4raz.nl/razzies/razzies201601.pdf The extracted article can be found in the download files section. She made a simplified model with the restored electronics circuit. Since she sells her work as a kit only I started making the pcb and case design by my own. Some details can be taken from the published videos. YT Video https://www.youtube.com/ watch?v=b8KduFyLevk The files: -The CNC files (Gerber /Exxellon) are not mirrored. If you need to flip them over. -The stl files represent the very first design. I would like to change the base and top part for reducing the print time. Edit your own version using Tinkercad. https://www.tinkercad.com/things/bshg0Q4fTUs-sputnik-pieper-modell-remake Needed stuff: -The pcb, make one of your own. It could be drawn by hand, seriously, no joke. Even a thing made from thick paper or cardboard could be made easily. -Old Germanium transistors Fran had taken GI 2N404A The equivalent for the P6G could be the MP40-series transistors made in the USSR. Look for those with low gain. The generator needs a tiny low amplification (gain) of no more but 3. High gain requires much negative feedback, meansresults in lower output signal. Fran recommends using a matched pair. Buy a lot and find those with the same gain. Look on ebay. The usual sources are located in Russia, Ukraina, Czech Republic, Bulgaria. -A few resistors, capacitors, a taktile switch or tumbler, 9volt battery -A loudspeaker low impedance i.e. 8 Ohm I have designed the opening for the speaker with 40mm outer diameter. The very flat loud speaker from greeting card Fran had used is not a must. Take what you can get easily. Take those salvaged from old mini radios or phones. Attached more files from radio amateur, satellites, hisrory related websites. Just in case they got lost. Compressed file (ZIP) with Sputnik beep recordings.
