Protein Structure Cookie Cutter (PRC2-AEBP2)

Protein Structure Cookie Cutter (PRC2-AEBP2)

Description

Cookie cutter in the shape of a negative stain electron microscopy-derived protein structure of the protein complex PRC2-AEBP2, an essential histone methyltransferase responsible for the maintenance of gene repression. I based the design on figures contained in the following paper. I chose this structure because it is in an open-access journal (no paywall), and because I thought it would look good as a cookie: Ciferri, C., Lander, G.C., Maiolica, A., Herzog, F., Aebersold, R. and Nogales, E., 2012. Molecular architecture of human polycomb repressive complex 2. elife, 1, p.e00005. The main alteration I made was to widen the bridging section that joins the upper and lower lobes of the complex to prevent the resulting cookies breaking in half too easily. If you don't have a recipe to start with, I've tested and included photos of cookies I've made using this recipe: https://youtu.be/hvFNVAOvOXk
