Customizable Spring-Loaded Fishing Float Bobber (or Christmas Ornament)
Description
I designed my own plastic spring and screw threads in OpenSCAD for another project and wanted to put them to use, so here is a DIY Fishing Float Bobber with plastic spring and hook mechanism. The SCAD source file is included for your customizing pleasure (e.g. different diameter, spring tension, etc), and includes all 4 components. No supports are needed, but a Brim is recommended. I suggest printing the top and bottom bobber halves and center shaft using 0% INFILL for buoyancy, perhaps one part in white and the other in red or orange. You will need to use a high enough extrusion ratio, detail, and layers and for the bobber top & bottom parts to make them watertight. I recommend printing the spring slowly at high detail and 100% Infill. To assemble, the open end of the spring and the notched end of the shaft are inserted into the bobber body, then the two halves of the body are screwed together. If the push button doesn't operate, the shaft is inserted the wrong way. To operate, hold in the spring-loaded button to expose the notch in the other end of the shaft, place fishing line through the notch, then release the button. (Can also be used as a clip-on Christmas ornament) Now go catch some fish! :-) (5/9/20: Fixed Z axis for one of the components that wasn't touching the bed)
