Thermoformable sponge holder
Description
### This is a flat printed sponge holder which needs to be heat shaped to get the final shape. I needed a place where I could put my sponge after washing the dishes and just laying it flat on the top of the sink made the sponge soak in water and damage it faster. Because this part must support moisture I decided to print it with PETG but my previous tests showed me that I had a lot of stringing with this material. I could just spend some time on postprocessing the part after being printed but I decided to go for a more experimental solution. ### Printing the part totally flat on the bed has several benefits. First of all the part looks much nicer right of the bed because it did not need any retraction to print. Indeed the nozzle stayed right above the printed parts during all the print removing any potential stringing. Then, the part is much stronger because the mains contraints are following the curved layer lines. Finally, you can adjust the emplacement of the bend according to your needs. I shaped this using a small heat-gun but very hot water might do the trick as well. The round hole on the model is exactly 6mm diameter.
