150mm Telescope Solar Filter Holder (182mm Tube)
Description
Designed to fit a <b><i>Celestron Nexstar 6 SLT</i></b> which has an outer diameter of <b>182mm</b>. This may fit many other 6" / 150mm telescopes with an outer external diameter between around 175mm and 182mm (Check yours before printing) 02/05/2020 Note: <i>182mmGelLensCover03back.stl</i> is replaced with revision r1 back cover due to alignment error in the stl originally posted. The M3 nuts I had just happened to be aluminium so that reduced weight a little and of course I happened to have some M3 x 6mm titanium bolts too! But steel or nylon will do to! The four M4 outer clamping bolts need the small buffers to prevent damaging the outer tube of your telescope or maybe use nylon M4 bolts/thumb screws. (I only use two screws with buffers on to clamp the filter in place.) The front and rear protective covers are optional to stop the gel film being scratched when the filter is not in use. It may need a large rubber band after being pulled on an off a few time but is a close fit from my printer. The gel sheet sun filter is available widely, as of course are other filter materials. <b>Do not look at the sun without the correct filters</b>, you could be blinded and or seriously damage the telescope!!! Printed in PLA, White for front, black for clamp ring and any colour for the protective covers. May be better in PETG if you are concerned about heat warping the gel filter frame.
