LCV - simple crises emergency ventilator (concept)

LCV - simple crises emergency ventilator (concept)

Description

This experimental ventilator is the mechanical part of a concept in which a manual resuscitator (from the emergency medical services) is automatically compressed by a mechanism that can be almost entirely produced by laser cutting. With this design it is possible to adjust the air volume and the ventilation frequency. A peep pressure can be achieved by a mechanical peep valve. A mechanical pressure relief valve must also be installed to avoid barotrauma to the patient. A redundant electronic function monitoring with alarm function is also required to make operation of the machine conceivable. Some advantages of this design are: - Can be manufactured by lasercutting - short production times - Large gear ratio of 10:1, a regular Nema 17 stepper motor can be used - Uniform two sided compression of the resuscitator (no twisting) - High compression force and thus high safety against loss of steps - Easy access to the bag at any time and easy removal/installation - quick switch between manual and automated operation is possible - Only two gear wheels in spite of a large transmission ratio, which is made possible by the combined hoist - The design uses mostly standard parts which can be sourced very easily (e.g. 608RS skate bearings, standard metric bolts, 5mm PMMA …) Disclaimer and Important note: A ventilator is a complex piece of equipment that must meet high standards with many safety features. In various countries there are different legal minimum requirements and conditions for ventilators, which generally cannot be met by this device. Furthermore, the operation of ventilators is reserved for trained and qualified medical personnel only. I`m not liable for any damage, accidents, failures or similar and their possible health consequences which may arise from the use of this construction. I also point out that this construction is not a medical ventilator, but only an experimental concept that you can use for further development and for experimenting purposes.
