Chevy Colorado / GMC Canyon Dashboard Hat Holder
Description
I wanted a cowboy hat instead of a phone above the infotainment system. Conveniently, the phone holder design this is a remix of has generic bolt holes so I just built a frame that utilizes the existing design. Print two of the "walls.stl" and "x frame.stl" files each. the design is reversible and symmetrical and fully adjustable. I included the original phone mount design for convenience. it is not modified at all, it is the exact same .stl file as the original. Bolts are M4 bolts and nuts, use at least 25mm (but a bit longer won't be a problem). Because vehicles vibrate, I recommend using threadlocker (like loctite) to prevent the nuts and bolts from coming loose whole the vehicle drives. I also recommend using felt pad stickers (The kind you can buy to stick on furniture legs) to help the side walls grip against the hat to keep it in place. Since this is the same mount from the remix (which was designed for a Chevy Colorado) and it works for my GMC Canyon, I can assume the base mount is compatible with both the 2nd gen Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon. In hot climates, use ABS or another plastic with a higher heat tolerance. Update 5/4/2020: the Texas heat melted the 'x frame' pieces! So I redesigned it to a stronger version.
