Covid - Face Shield with Flip Up

Covid - Face Shield with Flip Up

Description

An ophthalmologist asked me if the visors I'm printing could be modified so that they can flip de shield when they have to use the microscope. I'm guessing that they are not the only ones that need to use the microscope or any other tools that need a close eye and the fixed visor is a problem when it comes to that. So instead of taking it off, it should have a flip-up system. I did some research and found only a couple of models and none of those would fit the Prusa model that a lot of people are printing. So I mashed up 2 models, the Prusa (the slim one) and the one that inspired me the most, also from the Prusa Community. I didn't find it on Thingiverse so i can properly credit it, but here's the link. https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/30691-flip-up-hack-of-r3-usa-version So the regular shields and holes fit this model and you don't have to change anything on that. I printed 2, one with 0.3 res, 10% infill (this was by mistake left from previews print :) ), 45mm/s, no supports. And the other with 0.3 res, 16% infill, no supports, 60mm/s. Both were finished successfully and had no major structural problems. I think they can easily be printed at a higher speed but i don't know about the resolution. I think it can go a max of 0.4 without blending some sides. Because I wanted to keep the print with no supports, I tried to keep the parts as close together as possible so the system can flip without too much friction and the print wouldn't need any supports. The one in the photos is the one with 10% infill. There should be some material blending in the first layer, but don't worry, it's just a layer and if necessary it can be cut very easily in order to free the flip-up system. I hope it helps others too. Cheers
